The guide’s tip

The first time, cross downhill.

The bridge is higher on the Sainte-Cécile side than on the Épioux side. It’s high and it moves a little: for your first crossing, start from Sainte-Cécile and head down towards Les Épioux. It’s easier.

Once you’ve got the hang of it, feel free to come back the other way.

What are the opening hours?

There are no opening hours: the bridge is open 24 hours a day, except in severe weather, on hunting days and during works announced by the Town of Florenville.

Verified· S7 S16 S17

Does the bridge move?

A little, yes: that is how a Himalayan suspension bridge works, hanging from its cables. If you are afraid of heights, make your first crossing going downhill, from Sainte-Cécile towards Les Épioux.

Checked on site· 11.10.2026

Is the bridge closed during the hunting season?

Yes. A municipal order from the Town of Florenville closes the bridge and its car park all day on hunting days: 9, 10, 11, 15, 16 and 17 October, 5, 6, 7, 8, 19, 20 and 21 November, 3, 12, 13, 17, 18 and 19 December 2026, and 7 and 21 January 2027. This calendar may change. Before any walk, also check ChasseOnWeb, the Walloon public service portal for hunting in the forests.

How do I know if the bridge is open today?

Check the notices of the Town of Florenville (florenville.be/avis, in French) or call the town hall on +32 61 32 51 50. For hunts in the surrounding forests, check ChasseOnWeb. And look at the weather: the bridge is closed in storms, strong wind or frost.

Verified· S22 S18 S7

Is it scary if I am afraid of heights?
