In bad weather, don’t cross
Access to the bridge is forbidden in severe weather: storms, strong wind, frost… Check the forecast before you go, and call it off if the weather turns.
We found no official way to know in real time that the bridge is closed due to weather. If in doubt, call Florenville town hall on +32 61 32 51 50.
The guide’s tip
Which way should you cross?
The bridge is higher on the Sainte-Cécile side than on the Épioux side. It’s high and it moves a little: the first time, cross downhill, from Sainte-Cécile towards Les Épioux.

From guide to visitor
Our tips
Common-sense tips for a pleasant visit that respects the site.
Come early at weekends
Early in the morning you will enjoy the quiet of the valley and find a parking space more easily.
Use the designated car park
Only the car park on Route d’Herbeumont. Don’t park along the roads or on forest tracks.
Wear proper shoes
The bridge is reached by forest paths: wear walking shoes, especially after rain.
Respect the National Park
Stay on the paths and keep your dog on a lead.
Your litter
Pack it in, pack it out
There is a bin near the bridge, but it regularly overflows. The rubbish then ends up on the ground, in the ditches or in the forest.
Packaging, cans, picnic leftovers, tissues and toilet paper: everything goes home with you, no exceptions.
Contrary to what many people think, a paper tissue does not disappear in a few days: it can stay visible in nature for more than a year. And even if it is biodegradable, litter is still litter as long as it lies in the forest.
Bring a small bag to carry your rubbish back. It is neither complicated nor a hassle: it is simply a matter of respect.
The bridge draws more and more visitors. That is a good thing, as long as nature does not pay the price.
The forest is not a bin. It welcomes us: the least we can do is leave it as beautiful as we found it.
